Quick Appreciation Post: TARGET – Please Love Me

My friend ZombieMamma turned me on to this song last week and I really have to thank her because I LOVE IT!

TARGET is a brand-new group and their first song is called “Please Love Me.”

Apparently it’s a pre-debut single. I’ve never quite understood the concept of a “pre-debut.” It’s not really a release, but it’s kind of a release? I don’t get it.

Anyway, at first I was a little iffy, thinking, “Wow. This is weird!” But the more I listened to it, the more I liked it. And now? Now it’s on repeat. Constantly.

The song is quirky, creepy, and kind of sexy. Just my cup of tea!

I love darker concepts, so liking this video was a no-brainer. I just wish some of the guys weren’t hidden under massive hair and hoods.

I can’t quite shake the Linkin Park vibe of this song, but I kind of like it for that reason. It’s old Linkin Park, when I was a massive fan of them (back in my younger days).

Since no one is really making music like this anymore, why not have a Korean pop group do it? Sounds reasonable. And it really works for them.

I don’t know the names of any of the guys yet. Well, I know names but can’t put them to faces. All I know is there is potential in their voices. And whoever it is doing the EXO Chen-like high notes is killing it! Sign me up!

I’d love to see this MV get more views. As it is, I think it’s still below 5,000. You gotta watch it, people! πŸ™‚

These guys have the potential to be major bias list wreckers for me, but I’m going to hold off final judgement until their actual debut.

What do you think of the song? Weird but cool, or just plain weird?

Let me know what you think! In the meantime, I’ll be looking forward to seeing what these boys have in store for me.

  1. I’m glad I could bring yet another group with potential to your attention. (Because let’s face it, we can never have too many groups to fangirl over!) I was intrigued by this song when I first stumbled upon it and like you, I’m a sucker for the darker concepts so I was hooked by the video. I’m not quite ready to give them bias-wrecker status yet but I am intrigued by them and I’m really looking forward to their debut. I’d like to see what else these boys have up their sleeve and I’m really hoping I’m not disappointed. I think they’re certainly off to a promising start. πŸ™‚

  2. I found out about them through an Indie K-Pop blog i follow and to be honest i was a bit taken back by the low quality of the dance and cinematography but i decided to give them a bit of slack as I heard it was a predebut thing. i ended up liking the song too, the only thing that still gets me though is the “i cant stop the pain” thing. his “yelling” voice kinda sounds like he’s constipated…

    1. Yeah. I kinda ignore the whole “Pain is love. Stop the pain” part, or whatever he says. It’s a bit cringe-worthy. Haha. And the dance isn’t all that awe-inspiring but I figured it was an unusual song to dance to so they did the best with what choreo they were given. I’m looking forward to seeing their actual debut.
